What is the metric?
Percent of Residents Who Newly Received an Antipsychotic Medication (Short Stay)
What does the metric mean?
This measure reports the percentage of short-stay residents who are receiving an antipsychotic medication during the target period but not on their initial assessment.
How do we calculate the metric?
The Numerator is the number of short-stay residents for whom one or more assessments in a look-back scan (not including the initial assessment) indicates that antipsychotic medication was received.
This condition is defined as:
(N0415A1 = [1]) For assessments with target dates >= 10/01/2023
The Denominator is all short-stay residents with a target assessment and a separate initial assessment, who do not have exclusions.
Exclusions include:
The resident is recorded as receiving antipsychotic medication on the initial assessment for initial assessments with target dates on or after 10/01/2023
Antipsychotic medication use is unknown on any assessment in the lookback period for initial assessments with target dates on or after 10/01/2023
Any of the following related conditions are present on any lookback assessment with target dates on or after 10/01/2023:
Schizophrenia
Tourette’s syndrome
Huntington’s disease
